Pages of the World is a non-profit organization that promotes cultural diversity and literacy among elementary school students through reading. We partner with local libraries to provide educational resources and opportunities for students to learn about different cultures and traditions through reading. We believe that reading can help children develop a love of learning and curiosity about the world, while also fostering an appreciation for the unique perspectives and experiences that make up our global community

Why it Matters?

Teaching children about other cultures is important for their development and well-being. There are many things that parents and caregivers can do to help children learn about other cultures. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there were 54.9 million children under the age of 13 living in the United States in 2022. A 2018 study by the Pew Research Center found that only 35% of American adults said they have a good understanding of other cultures. A 2019 study by the National Education Association found that only 28% of teachers said they feel well-prepared to teach about other cultures. Only 36% of teachers said their school has a curriculum that includes instruction on other cultures.
